Natural Drivers of Climate:

There are countless causes of changes in the climate.   One should start with the changes in energy in.  As the much referenced NASA diagrams show the energy in coming from the sun can vary in absolute terms.   Review the section on solar to see more details.   See the flwo diagram at right, the original NASA diagram.

The cloud reflectivity also varies not just with the amount of cloud cover or the opposite parameter, clear skies.   See the section on clouds to understand this variability more completely.    Moreover the amount of the incoming solar energy or insolation that is absorbed also varies with variation in the atmosphere

Also the reflectivity of the earth surface varies with show coverage and the reflectivity of the oceans, even cities.

Given that the absolute amount being absorbed by the earth's surface is variable by some range of W/m2, one would hope that this was at least measured and statistically meaningful.   It does not appear to be so in the climate science, given the assumptions that the IPCC uses in its GCM models.

With all of the natural variation of the incoming energy there is also the variability of how the oceans absorb insolation and what happens in the various cycles that follow.   Given that the outgoing energy balancing is what leads to a good deal of climate variability as well.

The variation in cloud formation due to this absorbed insolation and all of the variation of the energy release as the water vapor rises and then condenses into clouds is immense.    It is also a very complex issue to model as the IPCC has admitted in its AR reports.

With this variation in energy release of evaporation, radiation, adn convection/conduction there is a lot to consider.   Even in the amount of IRG's and how much these vary also with natural causes, it is difficult to say that science currently has the capability to determine a model that would be accurate.

There however good attempts to mathematically curvefit the actual climate to measured variables like ocean temp cycles and volcanic activity along with some measure of solar activity.    All have several options.

The results of this variable determination can be found at Modelled Temperatures in this website a the link Alternative Models.  What is shown there is that CO2 is not a driver of climate at least in these statistical studies.    This a strong finding about CO2 leading to increased doubt.

The opportunity for so many variables and natural causes to affect climate is easy to realize and hard for anyone to formulate.   Climate is the result of countless natural cycles as one will find by studying this website.

We should revisit occasionally what the proper role of government is.   As the constitution was a good sense of direction, we need a core set of principles to add in order to deal with the future.

So many want to engineer society, remove risk, assist certain groups, rather than let individuals thrive and raise communities.  Why?

Is Democracy where we all "get it good and hard" or is it the best means to a free society?

Should we roll with the special interests, or make the government achieve its proper role, what is that role, and how to do this?

When do deficits and governments become too large?

Government is becoming more elitist while trying to sell corrections to problems it created, what makes this possible?

Currently as a society, we are having a most difficult time discussing political issues.  What is driving this?   And why a rebirth in political culture would be a good thing.

Market Economy

Are "markets" dead as some would conjecture? Or is free enterprise what got us here?

Economic Theories

At the heart of economics there are several possible economic schools of thought, the essence of these schools of thought and how they relate to our lives.
